This web server has been set up to host sites which provide free and useful content, especially Mac related, to the whole of the Internet. It is also a working demonstration that the latest technology is not necessarily needed to do a job at hand.

What's In a Name?

The domain makkintosshu.com comes from the Japanese word for Macintosh ( in katakana) which I gave my PowerBook G3 FireWire. My previous laptop was a PowerBook 520, so I was a big fan of the 500 series which included the PowerBook 550c. The 550c is very sought after because of its black case, sleek design, and color display, which makes it very similar to the PowerBook G3. Since the 550c was only released in Japan, I decided to give my new PowerBook, which was basically a hot-rod version of the 550c I had always dreamed of, a Japanese name.

The server name TNT, and hence the sub-domain tnt, originated from the fact that the server is an upgraded PowerMac 7500 which was codenamed "TNT" by Apple during development stages.
